Mike, I like you, but you're smokin' crack if you think Duke is No. 2. Don't fall for loving The Rat. Gerald Henderson was the best player on that team and carried them last year. Duke #2, I don't think so. Here's a team without their go to guy, who lost to Nova by 20 and it could have been worse had the dogs not been taken off the court.
Although, NOVA has a strong freshman class, they are still freshmen. It will be another year before they mature and are ready for the top five in the country. However, they do belong somewhere in the top ten; and, everyone forgets that Taylor King, formerly of Duke, a shooter and a very good rebounder for his height, will be eligible this coming season. He will make a big contribution this coming season/.
Being a former Nova player, I believe the best team in the country to be either Mich State or Kansas. But, with Jay Wright coaching, NOVA could again surprise everyone.
I would place NC above Duke; they still have a lot of firepower, but they've got to find a point guard fast.

Instead of carping about a team being left out, why not add who they should be higher than and why. There can only be 25 teams in a Top 25, so unless you can objectively point out why your team should be higher, the "[my team] should be ranked" posts are pointless.

Can't agree with Illinois not being in the top 25 and especially being 6th in the Big 10. They tied for 2nd last year (and beat Purdue, Michigan, OSU and Minnesota) with a lack of athleticism at a couple of positions and some bad shooting games.

With Davis healing, one of the best incoming classes in years (with two FR who led their teams and hit big shots) and Weber getting the most out of his players, Illinois should be at least 3rd in the Big 10 and in the top 25.

Siena is a MAAC team that has been greatly helped by facing the incredible talent in the league, particularly Marist college. If not for their narrow escape last year at McCann, things could have been a whole lot different. Other good teams like Niagara, Rider and Canisius.

I love how people overrate Dayton as being a good team only to see them flop below expectations. They will be one of the first teams to drop out of the top 25. I mean come on Dayton...they won a NCAA game this year but the way both teams played in that game, I thought I was watching a CBI game. Before that, when was the last time they actually won an NCAA game? Its a joke program, last year was their best year they will ahve in 20 years.

Maybe its just me, but it seems like people have been saying for four years that Duke will be the team to beat next year, when they haven't added any substantial talent during that time and have just lost their best talent. They will win 30 games, but what does that mean in the end? It means a big disappointment when they don't make the sweet 16. Leave them out of your list and make them prove it for once.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for not including Marquette. We can continue to be the "surprise" team in the Big East, "sneak" into a bye game in the Garden, perhaps "steal" a tournament game, win the usual 23 or so games, be a nation leader in home attendence (again), and then next year again be left off your list. Watch out for this year's recruiting class - MU is bigger than ever to add to its usual array of back court talent. Beware the Warriors.

They're prob between 10 and 15 at most....UNC w/o Larry Drew should be ok but also probably in the top 10-15 range but their big men are far superior than Duke's.

I hope everyone understands what a great job Bill Self has done since taking over the KU basketball program. Even after losing all his starters from the 2008 National Championship team, he was able to regroup, reorganize, and put forward a Big 12 Championship team in 2009. Everyone is all stirred up over nuthin'. I love the debate of these "Top" rankings before a player has even stepped on the court, the ball has been tipped off and the players make a shot. PEOPLE!!!! These guys are guessing. Any of 'em that make a list of who they think will finish or be in whatever position they place them in. Don't get your jockstraps in a wad over these lists, geesh.
And as for love in the ACC, is there any of the other teams that don't wear either color of blue and white that actually deserve to be recognized? Those are the only two teams that are consistantly in the top 20 at the end of the year (give or take a rebuilding year here and there)?
