Xavier Henry is still coming to Lawrence.

One of the nation’s prize recruits – a 6-6 sweet-shooting guard is high on anyone’s list – gave the Jayhawk faithful a tense 12 hours or so on Tuesday when word surfaced that Henry was

Kansas exhales after Henry watch ends

I don't know why any coach in college basketball would put up with one and done athletes? These individuals are not interested in team success, only improving their own statistics.
Basketball is still a team sport and you can't build a team around someone who's only there for their own amusement and building his image to meet the expectations of the NBA.
As for the elder Mr. Henry, he's doing a disservice to his sons. He does talk too much and why would you have to live near the college your sons attend; especially since they are one and dones? Unless, you're going to live off your sons' success.
If I were Bill Self, I would have recinded the scholarship offer and let both of the Henry sons find another college to attend. It's not worth the aggravation or disruptiveness that these two players and their parents are about to bring down upon your fine university.
My only hope for colleges recruiting high school players is to require them to sign a contract to play no less than three years for the school. This way it doesn't destroy the symmetry that coaches are trying to develop among their players.
Also, if the Henry boys aren't interested in going to classes and getting a degree, then they shouldn't be allowed to play basketball at any university. Their academic progress should be scrutinized and monitored immediately as they attend classes. If you don't go to class and meet the 2.0 grade level, you don't play.
As a former division one basketball player, you are only one injury away from needing that education to support yourself.
Why bring down a fine university, go to junior college, if you're as good as your hyped, then the NBA will find you. Kansas doesn't need a scandal similar to what went on at Memphis and will go on at Kentucky.

Kansas exhales after Henry watch ends

This all boils down to one thing. Carl Henry can't keep his mouth shut and is way to involved in his sons life. Carl never made it in the NBA. He bounced around Europe dragging his family along. He is attempting to live through his children. He's nothing more than a crazy "soccer mom" who thinks little Johnny is the best player in the world and should not only be starting for his u-15 team, but also Manchester United.

He does not dispute the "facts" of the story. So he did say he thought CJ was better than Tyshawn Taylor and Sherron Collins. Who in their right mind would go out and say something like that? Definitely not someone who has the overall good of the Kansas basketball program in mind.
This could end up killing team chemistry. Hopefully Bill can bring it all together once they finally get on campus. If I'm Sherron Collins I make sure the Henry's know who the leader of the team is from day one. Sorry Xavier and CJ you simply don't have the track record of Sherron Collins. AAU basketball is not big time division one college basketball. Carl you're son's have proved nothing yet. Keep your mouth shut!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kansas exhales after Henry watch ends

"Matt, MI" - if you want to comment on soccer, then maybe you should take your lame thoughts and head elsewhere. By the way, thanks for making the comparion of soccer moms to a father that is clearly living his life via his sons. Do you know many soccer moms that are living out their soccer aspirations thru their children?

Kansas exhales after Henry watch ends

Actually Soccer Mom I do know them personally. I have grown up in the world of competitive soccer. This type of attitude is pervasive within youth soccer at the highest levels. It's not only the mother's, but also the fathers. Sorry I left out the father. By the way it's comparison, not comparion. Now go get in you're mini van with the soccer ball on the back, because little "Johnny" is going to be late for practice. I also have trouble with someone who cannot spell calling my thoughts lame. The comparison is dead on accurate to what Carl Henry is doing.
